[…] I am sure that Claudio was not yet aware of what that thin, precocious, and deeply renewing volume was going to mean in the history of postwar Spanish poetry. It is something that we all know today: it is a book in which poetry dared to be song again, and it did so in a symbolizing and even visionary way. And -here lies its “boldness”- this happened in an epoch in which what was in vogue was the pray for the painful situation of the country, and the realist and direct diction defended by the “social poets”.
