[…] The poetic substance of Claudio Rodríguez, that is, the quality of that substance, has no equal in all the contemporary poetry written in Spanish. Since -I insist- I am not a critic, I do not need to ground my statement. Moreover, the quality of substances cannot be explained; it can only be known through experience and through contact.
