PE\u00d1A HOUSE<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">I leave my house and feel<br \/>\nthis musical tenderness of the sky.<br \/>\n<em>The Flight of Celebration <sup>1<\/sup> <\/em><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Claudio Rodr\u00edguez was born on January 30th, 1934 in 51 Santa Clara Street, at the corner of Alfonso de Castro Street, in a building long ago demolished. While still a child, his family moved to the \u201cAmerican\u2019s House\u201d or \u201cPe\u00f1a House\u201d, commissioned by Jos\u00e9 de la Pe\u00f1a to the architect Antonio Garc\u00eda S\u00e1nchez-Blanco in 1931, on his return from Mexico. It is a splendid building in historicist style. Claudio Rodr\u00edguez commenced his High School studies there in 1944. There he met two teachers form whom he always kept fond memories: Mr. Ram\u00f3n Luelmo, a Literature teacher to whose first attempts to carve language he is indebted, and Mr. Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda G\u00f3mez L\u00f3pez, a Philosophy teacher, who introduces him in the philosophical readings that will later shape his poetic thought. CLAUDIO RODR\u00cdGUEZ STREET<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">What are you doing around this Street,<br \/>\nhere, in the Street of my adventures?<br \/>\n<em>Conjurings<\/em><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On his January 28<sup>th<\/sup>, 1994 session, the Council of Zamora \u201cagrees to dedicate a street to the Zamoran poet Mr. Claudio Rodr\u00edguez, as acknowledgement to his poetic qualities and merits\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This new street is located between the Castile and Leon Square and the Pelayo Street, and it was a usual play space for the child Claudio and his friends.<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-217-3\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"\/ruta-literaria\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CLAUDIO-03.mp3?_=3\" \/><a href=\"\/ruta-literaria\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CLAUDIO-03.mp3\">\/ruta-literaria\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CLAUDIO-03.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23 size-large\" src=\"\/ruta-literaria\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/bar-la-golondrina.jpg\" alt=\"Bar la Golondrina\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"blue\">4. \u201cTHE SWALLOW\u201d BAR<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">\n<p>Always on leaving we think<br \/>\nof the distance, never<br \/>\nof the company. And any place is a good one<br \/>\nTo make Friends.<br \/>\n<em>Alliance and Condemnation<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the title of an oil canvas painted by the Zamoran artist Antonio Pedrero (Zamora, 1939-) in 1960 (4.50 m. x 1.50 m.). Caja Espa\u00f1a Collection, 19 San Torcuato Street Office.<\/p>\n<p>In this painting, Antonio Pedrero immortalizes relevant individuals who were regulars in his parents\u2019 bar, <em>The Swallow, <\/em>among whom Claudio Rodr\u00edguez appears surrounded by his friends. From left to right we can find 22 characters: Mart\u00edn de la Iglesia \u201cEl M\u00fasico\u201d, Manuel Sevillano, Gregorio Matilla, Eduardo Pedrero, Claudio Rodr\u00edguez, Ram\u00f3n Abrantes, Julio Mostajo, Fernando Pardal, Miguel \u201cEl Curro\u201d, \u201cEl Chiv\u00edn\u201d, \u00c1ngel \u201cCacabelo\u201d, Juanito \u201cEl Chuleta\u201d, Paulino \u201cEl Pirata\u201d, Virgilio Pedrero \u201cLili\u201d, L\u00e1zaro Moreno \u201cEL Zapatero\u201d, Andr\u00e9s \u201cEl ciego\u201d and his guide Eulogio \u201cEl Pisculi\u201d, Antonio Baladr\u00f3n, Miguel Cerr\u00f3n and Luis \u201cEl Sordo\u201d. A singular human group of Zamora captured by the artist while he was at work in the bar. What are we all doing<br \/>\nin the middle of the Marketplace at this time of the day?<br \/>\n<em>Conjurings<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Claudio Rodr\u00edguez always sung to the solidarity of man. The Main Square helps him discover the men \u201cfrom the good land\u201d (countryflok) as opposed to those \u201cfrom the evil land\u201d (townsfolk). Social falsehood is one of his concerns, more evident in the book <em>Conjurings, <\/em>where he takes a critical stance. The Main Square, the habitual place for weekly markets and witness to \u201cThe Contract of Young Men\u201d in mid. twentieth century, caused a strong impression in him. It hosts the Claudio Rodr\u00edguez Permanent Seminar since 2004. Part of Claudio Rodr\u00edguez\u2019s original oeuvre is kept there, as well as other documents related with his life. WALLS<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">\n<p>Here I am before your walls<br \/>\nBorder town which always<br \/>\nThe heavens constantly unnerves.<br \/>\n<em>Alliance and Condemnation<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Claudio always carried his town in his memories and described it from his deepest feelings. However, as time went by, he became disappointed with it and looked for an open, wall-less town, where light and air could penetrate and enlighten its inhabitants. WATER MILLS<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">\n<p>You, river of my land, you, Enduring river.<br \/>\n<em>Conjurings<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Claudio Rodr\u00edguez\u2019s constant strolls along the river Duero led to its idealized image. Its rumor accompanied him throughout his whole life, was witness to the simplicity, voice and pulse of its folk. That is why the poet asks, in case one day he forgets about the river because of solitude, injustice, wine, indifference or despondency, for the river to hold him, to become <em>Dudarero<\/em> (timeless). STONE BRIDGE<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">\n<p>And as I saw<br \/>\nI was so popular among the streets<br \/>\nI crossed the bridge and, farewell, I left all behind.<br \/>\n<em>Conjurings<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Claudio Rodr\u00edguez called himself a \u201cwandering poet\u201d. He loved nature and solitude. He observed the farm laboring at the family\u2019s property during his childhood and youth, what influenced in his attention to nature and his contemplative stance. Walking out into the open fields was a way of seeking solace, of letting time control go. THE <em>PELAMBRES<\/em><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"times\">\n<p>\u2026 Oh, river,<br \/>\nfounder of cities \u2026<br \/>\n<em>Conjurings<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The first town ordinances that forced tanners to work outside the city walls, due to the stink of their labor, were passed in the fifteenth century, although they were not in full force until the sixteenth century. The tanneries, especially for tasks such as the \u201capelambrado\u201d (skinning), became a bank job. To that end, small pools called \u201cpelambres\u201d were used in which the furs were submerged, being the best-known installations those of San Frontis.
